Sport-related focus: Coaching

The focus of this session is ‘quality coaching’.  The form and nature of coaches’ work, the knowledge that informs coaching practice, coaching behaviours that are commonly exhibited by coaches.
Dr. Steven Rynne is an Associate Professor and Program Convenor for Sports Coaching with the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences at The University of Queensland. The major theme that runs throughout Steven’s work is learning in sport.  Steven teaches undergraduate and graduate students, is a cycling coach, and has been immersed in junior and community sport settings for more than two decades.

 

 

Sport-related focus: Tournament Organisation

Successful tournament organisation requires knowledge in the following: preparation for tournaments, liaising with customers/stakeholders, at-tournament responsibilities, post-tournament review and discussion
Iain McLennon organises the Champion Basketball School of Queensland tournaments each year featuring Open, Sophmore and Junior Secondary and Primary age groups. The open event alone attracts a great deal of interest from all schools across the state each year with over 120 boys and girls teams competing across several open-age divisions. 

 

 

Recreation-related focus: Expedition Planning

Developing knowledge and ideas in this recreation related focus that cultivates personal and interpersonal skills combined with health and safety procedures.
Dom Courtney joined Outdoors Queensland in 2015. Previously, Dom worked as recreation coordinator at Seqwater, as a property officer at Caboolture Shire Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council. Dom’s experience with Seqwater gives him an understanding of the issues facing the outdoor recreation sector, particularly in regard to access to places and increasing opportunities.

 

 

 

Masterclass Facilitator

Glenn is an experienced consultant, having previously worked in schools in Victoria and Queensland as teacher, curriculum coordinator and Head of Department in the Independent and Catholic sectors of education. He is a respected and highly valued presenter in professional learning events, conferences and workshops across Australia, as well as at International Conferences in Australia.
