Online planning workshop
This professional development opportunity is specifically designed for Primary HPE specialists and aims to streamline the demands of teaching Health and Physical Education in primary schools. We run workshops that are relevant, backed by literature and provide a rare opportunity to moderate assessment. The delivery will be online using Microsoft Teams so schools all across Queensland can attend.
The day will be split into three sessions
SESSION ONE: Alignment to AC:HPE v9: Guiding program planning and pedagogy in Health and Physical Education.
This session will investigate the five interrelated HPE propositions and how they provide a framework for exploring the learning described in Health and Physical Education in a way that will create relevance and meaning for all students and support alignment to AC:HPE v9.
SESSION TWO: Working across the Achievement Standard
Identifying practical ways to integrate the personal, social and community health strand into your movement and physical activity lessons.
SESSION THREE: Moderating Assessment in HPE
Teachers will share and develop their understanding of what learning looks like by examining video footage of different focus areas and quality of students’ work and comparing these with formal standards and success criteria.
Our facilitators
The workshop will be run by our ACHPER QLD Professional Learning Officer, Amy McCabe, who is also a practicing Primary HPE Specialist and Glenn Amezdroz, a skilled practitioner in mentoring and curriculum planning. Glenn has previously held positions with QCAA both as a principal education officer and on QCAA Moderation Panels and Subject and Syllabus Advisory Committees.
