The following award categories are available in 2009: 

1. Teresa Carlson Award. Recognises the significant contribution made by an ACHPER QLD member in the promotion of active and/or healthy living to the education community.

2. School Student Award. Recognises the significant contribution made by a QLD Primary, Middle, Secondary or Special School student to the school health and physical education OR sports program OR to the promotion of active and/or healthy living through the school Health and Physical Education program.

3. Tertiary Student Award. Recognises the significant contribution made by a QLD tertiary student to the health and physical education discipline OR the promotion of active and/or healthy living to other QLD students and/or to the wider community.

4. Best Practice in HPE Award – Primary School. Recognises the significant contribution made by a Queensland Primary School (across education sectors) for an innovative program in the learning area OR promotion of active and/or healthy living to one or more stakeholders of the school community through the school Health and Physical Education program.

5. Best Practice in HPE Award – Secondary School. Recognises the significant contribution made by a Queensland Secondary School (across education sectors) for an innovative program in the learning area OR the promotion of active and/or healthy living to one or more stakeholders of the school community through the school Health and Physical Education program.

6. Sport in Schools Award. Recognises the significant contribution made by a national or state sporting organization OR government department/s in the promotion of active and or healthy living to the QLD education community through an innovative program or programs.

7. Corporate Award. Recognises the significant contribution made by a QLD company for innovation in the area of health and physical education OR promotion of active and/or healthy living to the education sector and/or wider QLD community.

8. Community Award. Recognises the significant contribution made by a QLD Non-Profit organization in the promotion of active and/or healthy living to the education sector and or the wider QLD community.

9. Professional Development Award. Recognises the significant contribution made by a QLD individual or organization in the promotion of active and/or healthy living through quality professional development to Health, Physical Education and/or Recreation representatives.

10. ACHPER QLD Volunteer Award. Recognises the significant contribution made by an ACHPER QLD volunteer in the promotion of active and/or healthy living to the education community and/or the wider QLD community through involvement in ACHPER QLD activities.
