World Teachers Day

Thank You Teachers!

World Teachers' Day is held internationally on 5 October. As the day usually falls during school holidays, Queensland celebrates on the last Friday of October each year. The day is a wonderful opportunity to draw public attention to the important role of teachers in our local communities.

This year, we will celebrate World Teacher's day in Queensland on Friday 31 October.

You can view the 2014 World Teachers' Day video.  The department also recognises the outstanding work of its teachers through the Teacher Career Milestones program, presented each year on World Teachers' Day.

Get involved

There are a number of ways schools, TAFEs and early childhood centres can promote World Teachers' Day and acknowledge the valuable contribution of your teaching staff including:

  • celebrating teachers during assembly and presentation of certificates of acknowledgement
  • a morning tea or event
  • working with parent and community groups to acknowledge teachers
  • encouraging teachers, parents and caregivers to join the department's Facebook and Twitter campaigns.

'Thank you' cards

Four World Teacher Day 'thank you' cards are available for download. Students and parents can add their own personalised message on the cards.

Card 1 130K - Card 2 95K - Card 3 54K - Card 4 51K
