Treasure Hunt

The purpose of this activity it to get children moving, using their memory and working as a team. Children will use their locomotor and stability skills.

Equipment required:
Small treasures (eg balls, toys, shells, pebbles, figurines). Markers to cover the treasures (eg cones, yoghurt buckets, small boxes).

Ideas for variations:
Theme eg pirates, space, fairies.
Ratio of markers to toys: increasing the ratio will challenge children's memory more.
Movement pattern eg, children could jump, hop or skip instead of run.

SunSmart schools and early childhood programs

All educators are reminded to ensure children are "SunSmart" when outside. More information and resources on sun safety in early childhood can be found on Cancer Council website.

Treasure Hunt

The Main Idea

Children search for treasures hidden under markers. Set out fewer 'treasures' than markers to create an 'active memory challenge'.
