Student Mentoring Session

WOW Speed Mentoring Session offered in this year's program

In 2017 ACHPER QLD is partnering with the Queensland Government and Women of the World (WOW) to run a one-hour speed mentoring session immediately following the Women in Sport Breakfast. 100 female high school students will meet with 100 female mentors!

Speed Mentoring – based on speed dating – is a way to exchange ideas, share challenges and gain exposure to a variety of perspectives on establishing and pursuing career and life goals. This is an opportunity for our current generation of female students to meet with inspirational, successful women across the fields of health, sport, business, the arts and active living.

Each student will have five individual, 10-minute mentoring sessions. Preparation material will be provided to attendees to ensure both mentors and mentees get the most out of this incredible experience.

Selection Process for the WOW Speed Mentoring Session

· The WOW Speed Mentoring runs from 9.30am-10.30am in Meeting Rooms P9-11 of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. This is approximately 100m from the Plaza Ballroom and is on the same level

· Each school is guaranteed 1 student place at the WOW Speed Mentoring per table for the Women in Sport Breakfast (minimum of 5 students per school need to attend the breakfast to be eligible)

· If a school purchases more than 1 table they will allocated more student places, for example 3 tables = 3 students

· Once registrations close for the WISB on Wednesday 18 October, each school will be advised of the number of students allocated to WOW Speed Mentoring

· Each school will then select their attending student/s based on the number of places allocated

· ACHPER QLD will also nominate small number of students to attend

· It is the responsibility of the school to ensure their students return safely to school.
