SPORTING STAR AWARD NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

Are there girls at your school who deserve recognition for their sporting achievements at a regional, state, national or international level, over the past 12 months?

The Sporting Star Awards are now open for the 2019 year. There are two age groups for Sporting Performance - 

Junior Star for girls 14 years and under and 

Senior Star for girls 15 years and over.

There is also a category for Sporting Service.

Of these entrants, one Schoolgirl Athlete of the Year will be selected and announced at the Women in Sport Breakfast on Wednesday 23 October and presented with the ultimate award for 2019.

Nominations close Friday 13 September. Click on the links above to nominate your students today. 

QLD SCHOOLGIRL ATHLETE OF THE YEAR ANNOUNCED

Paige Leonhardt - Swimmer

Congratulations to Paige Leonhardt from Carmel College our 2018 QLD Schoolgirl Athlete of the Year. Paige has had an incredible 12 months in the pool. To date she holds over thirty National Age and over 15 Open Age Australian records. In May this year, Paige represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games, placing fourth in the S10 200 meter individual medley and taking out the silver medal in the SB9 100m breaststroke. In July, Paige was selected to join the Australian Dolphins swim team and went on to compete in the Pan Pacific Para Swim Championships where she won gold in the 100m breaststroke event. She also collected gold medals in two relay events and a silver and bronze in the 100m fly and 100m freestyle respectively. In addition to her sporting achievements, Paige is an ambassador for the children’s charity Variety, for their Variety Heart Scholarship Program.
