ASPIRE Leadership Series

ACHPER QLD is the connector between experts in the HPE industry and the practicing HPE teacher and works hard to meet the needs of its members and the greater HPE community. To further support HPE teachers, ACHPER QLD has expanded its suite of professional development opportunities to include the ASPIRE Leadership Series. This series of workshops will take place over a two year time frame and are targeted at the specific career stages of teachers or specific segments of the HPE workforce. The first of the series was the Women's Leadership Workshop held in Brisbane. Read below for a summary of the workshop.

A Head of Department/Lead Teacher Leadership Retreat will take place over two days in April 2019  at the Gold Coast (program to be confirmed early in 2019) and an Early Career Teacher Symposium will take place in late 2019.

Wrap Up

Our first ASPIRE Women’s Workshop was a successful afternoon designed for female HPE teachers, with over three years’ experience, who are working towards positions of school leadership. The extremely well received, keynote speech from Liz Foster (Principal, Macgregor State High School) was followed by a series of deep dive sessions on CV writing, interview techniques and mentor opportunities. A 1 – 1 ratio between mentees and mentors enabled mentees to speak freely and receive quality time and attention towards issues directly relating to specific issues/problems in the selection process. Thank you to all those who participated and made the first of the ASPIRE workshops such a success.
