A total of 75 schools participated in the ACHPER QLD HPE Week. Schools recognised the importance of Health and Physical Education in the curriculum and students enjoyed being healthy and physically active for the week.

HPE Week 2017

HPE Week is a week that celebrates the role of Health & Physical Education in schools and communities. The aim is to promote the importance of HPE in the Australian Curriculum and highlight the importance of HPE to the learning and development of children and young people. In 2016 at total of 76 schools registered and participated.

In Queensland, HPE week is celebrated by schools signing up to participate in Daily Activities. Each day is dedicated to one activity, schools conduct the activity and report on it via social media and photos submitted to ACHPER QLD. Schools go into a prize draw for submitting their photos. See below for the activities from 2016.

Rugby League

Grab Bag Race

Students will enjoy this race that tests how good their touch perception is when they cannot see objects.

ACHPER QLD is offering a free registration to either the Brisbane HPE Conference or the Primary HPE Conference as the Tuesday prize.



RHS Build It Up and Knock It Down

Get the most out of your equipment storeroom and take part in the RHSports Build It Up and Knock It Down Activity

The Wednesday prize is a $100 Nyda product voucher. For more information about RHSports products visit their website.


Continous Soccer

Challenge the thinking power of students with 3 a side continuous soccer. Scale this activity up or down with the number of players per side, the time played and the size of the field. 

ACHPER QLD is offering a free registration to either the Brisbane HPE Conference or the Primary HPE Conference as the Thursday prize.



Dribble Tip Over Race is a dribbling race suitable for both primary and secondary students.

Golden Child is a team shooting game for secondary students that includes running to score points while one team is shooting.  

Basketball Queensland is offering 6 x Spalding composite leather balls which can be used outdoors, but are best indoors, at Friday's prize.
