Mich Tomson was presented with her ACHPER Life Membership at the 2016 ACHPER QLD AGM and Member's Evening.
Mich has been an ACHPER member for 20 years, joining our association from her very first year in Australia. She has dedicated her professional career with profound success to the promotion of physical activity, wellness and active learning in primary physical education settings for children.
Over the last 20 years, she has demonstrated leadership to our association at state and national level. She has contributed to ACHPER’s Executive at state and national level and has been a key member and driving force behind numerous ACHPER National and ACHPER QLD initiatives. Her foresight and leadership in Queensland has left a legacy which is admired by her peers and fellow educators.
Her dynamic, caring and enthusiastic approach to the teaching of physically active HPE has been characterised by a distinctively evidence-based, thoughtful and scholarly approach. She is a much admired leader who has directly and positively influenced the teaching standards and professionalism of many of QLD HPE teachers through your Convenorship of the Primary HPE Specialisation at Griffith University for over 17 years.
Mich's long-term, continuous, high level professional commitment to ACHPER and to Physical Education in Australia is truly meritorious. Her contribution to ACHPER and specifically to Physical Education on the national stage has been outstanding and she is a most worthy recipient for the Award of Life Member.
She is pictured with her husband Tom Cuddihy, a fellow Life Member of ACHPER.
Professor Macdonald has been an active member of the profession and supporter of ACHPER QLD, and the vision and mission of ACHPER National through her ongoing commitment to quality curriculum, teacher education, and pedagogical excellence.

As Lead Writer and Writers’ Mentor in Health and Physical Education for ACARA, Professor Macdonald has greatly influenced teaching professionals, politicians and community about the benefits of HPE.
