WRAP UP OF BRISBANE HPE CONFERENCE
The 2018 Brisbane HPE conference was again, a highly successful event, aimed at meeting the current needs of the profession. This was our largest conference ever with over 380 delegates, held at beautiful Iona College in Wynnum. This year’s program included key presentations around identifying our core purpose as HPE educators and understanding resilience and promoting wellbeing through the PERMA+ model. There was a heavy emphasis on the Senior Syllabus as well as many workshops and practical sessions for both primary and secondary teachers. Presentations are available for download here.
 
2018 SENIOR HEALTH & PE MASTERCLASSES
The 2018 Senior Health Masterclass will be held on Monday 19 November at QUT Kelvin Grove Campus and will cover UNIT 3: COMMUNITY AS A RESOURCE FOR HEALTHY LIVING

The 2018 Senior Physical Education Masterclass will be held on Tuesday 20 November at UQ St Lucia Campus and will cover UNIT 3, TOPIC 2: ETHICS AND INTEGRITY

SECOND GUEST ATHLETE ANNOUNCED FOR WISB!
Katrin Garfoot, is a gold medalist in the Women’s Individual Time Trial (Road) at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018. She has been an elite member of the Australian Women’s Cycling Team and has represented Australia at a number of World Championship and international events. Katrin has also completed three degrees, including her post-graduate diploma in secondary education. Read more about Katrin's amazing achievements here.

As part of our commitment to promoting Active and Healthy lifestyles in education communities across Queensland, we are offering primary and secondary schools the opportunity to win a $1000 bursary from QLD Government. RESEARCH SURVEYS - WE NEED YOUR HELP

1. Your Voice - Active and Healthy Kids Survey:

The Active Healthy Kids Australia group has launched the ‘YOUR VOICE’ survey for all Aussie kids and teens aged 5-17 years. 2. Physical Education Teachers' Intentions and Efficacy to Teach Physical Activity

FEATURE TEACHER
Our Feature Teacher for August is Tyler Hardy from St Joseph's and St Kieran's Catholic Schools in Mt Isa. Tyler was recently nominated for the quality teacher of the year award by St Joseph's - only three years into his teaching career, this is testament to the positive impact Tyler is having on this remote community.
